How can I get my music or the music of my students played and recognized nationally and internationally?

The Composer’s Opportunity Guidebook is the result of a two-year effort to compile the hundreds of annual competitions, summer workshops and institutes, residencies, and grant opportunities geared to composers into one place. For planners like me, it is nice to have some sense of the upcoming opportunities that are relevant and prepare for them. This does not diminish the virtues of sites like composerssite.com that will bring the latest opportunities. But it shows the competitions and organizations that seem to be the survivors—that at least promise yearly events and look to a long-term future.

This publication from late 2019 will grow more and more out-of-date over time. Hopefully, the the majority of annual opportunities here will endure for the next several years. However, this project also becomes a historical snapshot: what did the world of concert music composition offer in 2019?
